Our Telehealth Consultations

Telehealth is the provision of healthcare by video call or, if necessary, by phone.

Video consultations at Youthscope use the Coviu online platform which has been designed for secure and private Telehealth sessions. It allows you to join a consultation session using any modern device. Coviu is end-to-end encrypted and it does not store patient data.

If a video call is not practical during your consultation, please contact us to make some alternative arrangement.

How to use Coviu

There is no need to download any App. Coviu uses the Internet browser on your device.

Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge are the preferred browsers if you are using:

(1) a Windows or macOS computer, or

(2) an Android device.

Safari is the preferred browser if you are using:

(1) an Apple iPhone, or

(2) an Apple iPad.

For more information, visit the Coviu website.

How Coviu works

1. Your confirmation and reminder email/SMS contains a link to the session.

2. When you're ready to start, click the URL in your email or SMS.  Alternatively, copy and paste the URL into your browser.

3. Select 'Yes' if you're prompted to 'enable camera and microphone' in your web browser.

4. Read and accept the informed consent.

5. Listen to some hold music while you wait for Raphael to let you into the call when he is ready. You can also change the music if you prefer.

How to prepare for your Coviu session

Are you connected to the internet?

You will need the internet for the duration of your Telehealth session, either on WiFi or a 4G/5G connection.

Close all other apps or streaming services you are running

Streaming services or online gaming may slow down your internet speed and affect the quality of your session.

Run a speed test to test your internet connectivity

You can run a speed test to check your internet connectivity. You will need a minimum of 1 Mbps (1,000 Kbps) for both upload and download to hold a call on Coviu. The speed test will tell you where your bandwidth is sitting. You can click here to run the speed test.

Quiet and well-lit space

You will need a private and quiet area where you will not be disturbed during the consultation. Ensure the room is well-lit, with natural lighting reflecting on your face. The camera should be eye level to create a more natural position.
